John McNamara

John is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. John received his BA in classical literature from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana and earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California San Francisco – Hastings College of the Law. After two decades of successful work in film production and marketing, John decided to pursue his passion, left entertainment, and earned his Masters degree in clinical psychology from Antioch University in Los Angeles.

John specializes in the treatment of couples and individuals in distress, including infidelity, sex addiction and trauma. John received his training in the treatment of betrayal trauma under Marnie Breeker, Founder and Clinical Director of CRH. John has advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy – an empirically validated treatment modality for couples. John is also trained in EMDR – a therapy that facilitates the accessing and processing of traumatic memories and other adverse life experiences to bring these to an adaptive resolution, resulting in decreased levels of distress.

John works from an orientation of sex positivity, is LGBTQ allied and values his relationship with each and every client as unique. John is honored to be invited into the healing process of the individuals and couples who trust him with their treatment. John is an active member of the Los Angeles Center of Emotionally Focused Therapy (LACEFT), the International Center for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT) and EMDRIA, the EMDR International Association.
